Peter Press Maravich “Pistol Pete” was an American professional basketball player who played for the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans / Utah Jazz, and the Boston Celtics.
Maravich was born on June 22, 1947, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area to Peter “Press” Maravich (1915–1987) and Helen Graver Maravich (1925–1974) and raised in the Carolinas.
Maravich died on January 5, 1988, at the age of 40 in Pasadena, California. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife Jackie and his sons Jaeson and Josh who were 8 and 5 years old respectively.
